I have been using Turbo Tax since 2005 and it has always been easy and reliable. I will continue to use it every year for my returns.

TurboTax is easy to navigate and enter data. It reviews the returns to successfully to complete correct information.
It can prepare extensions, estimated payment vouchers, anything that a typical tax accounting firm and provide. I can work with it at my own pace, allowing me to review my work as I go.
Having prepared tax returns while working as a CPA auditor, I find it more user friendly than the in-house programs.

Finally gets there (we hope) but can't be sure

Later changes to information that was entered during Step-by-Step and was saved by TurboTax in calculation worksheets must be done in those worksheets but SOMETIMES these changes don't flow back to their parent forms (particular example Form 2555 line 44 calculation of allocable allowed deductions).
Then, in State (Georgia, at least) the Federal/State Adjustments workflow in TurboTax presents bare numbers without any explanation of where each number came from and asks the user to allocate the number either to the state or to other-state; TurboTax SHOULD present each number with its source, so that the user doesn't have to go data diving through hundred page tax return drafts to try to figure this out.
And then, we guess (because we can only guess, because it's so confusing and non-transparent) TurboTax (Georgia) State Step-by-Step says "Adjustments to Georgia Income - Unallocated adjustments on your return total -$xx,xxx", with some nonsense about entering positive as negative and negative as positive and no real explanation of what anything is and whether/how to adjust it up or down for the State.

TurboTax rocks but haas some annoying things

In most ways, TurboTax improves every year. Notably, the better instructions for how to input numbers from 1099-B forms helped a lot, including the cute animations. But several things I didn't like: (1) the new screen to enter investment income; the old screen was fine; (2) to change the title of an income item, sometimes I had to delete it entirely and re-enter all the required numbers; I had a land sale item with a title I never intended to be permanent, but I could only fix it by deleting the whole item and starting over. (3) Even though you know you will get the federal standard deduction, you should be warned to enter deductions anyway because they may help you with your state return; instead, you are only told when you get to the state return, forcing you to backtrack and waste a lot of time. (4) It is hard to find where to enter QCDs by searching TurboTax; you have to know to enter them when you are entering income items; it would be better to have QCDs be a mainline item rather than hidden deep, like ask at the beginning "do you have any QCDs?" and if I say "no", then don't bug me about them on every income item.

It works and has improved since I began using the program, but since I only use it once a year it's hard to judge the overall product - I'll just say it works and does seem easier to use than last year................
