Turbo Tax was Awful this Year!

I have been using TurboTax for years with no problems. This year has been a nightmare. I file for my mother-in-law's yearly and this year both federal and state got rejected because her AGI didn't match what the IRS had on file. Well, I used Turbo Tax last year and the number was exactly the same. What a pain. I had to download both sets of forms and mail across the country. And because I e-filed originally, my MIL was charged to file the state. This is the first year we had to use the download version versus the CD version and quite frankly it stinks. Go back to the CD. That worked. I never had problems before. And, for the price, I shouldn't be at my wits end to file my taxes, not should we be charged to file state. I am checking into another option next year. You seem to improve the product each year, and well you have improved me to another product. Way to go.

Franks TT review

Using TurboTax for over 25 years now, it is the gold standard for me. This year´s "vintage" had a couple of significant pros and cons while (fortunately) maintaining the excellent useability: Significant Pro: Entering ESPP and (in particular) RSU information was a breeze, it has been simplified so that my entering time from previous years was reduced from about 90 minutes to 5 minutes.
Con: - Downloading data from investment brokerages was a pain (especially from Schwab). It was easier in years past. - paying for filing the taxes was also taking time, entering the bank account info four times was required.
The "cons" are the reason why I am rating it only a 3-star this year.

Buy a different tax software. Full of mistakes!

Worst software I've ever used. The online version gave me one result, and the desktop version gave a different result, even though the desktop version pulled from what I entered online. THEN, they upcharge for everything. They charge to file the state version. They charge a processing fee. Ad nauseum. The low-cost desktop version was basically the same as online after the various fees, but at least it did the math correctly.

I feel that the online help, which has always been weak, is worse now. I suspect that this is because of the move to pump up service revenue by encouraging paid advice.
