Desktop version is better than online

I love being able to save the detail within each category on the desktop version. This keeps me from having to keep notes from year to year outside of turbotax -- something I have to do for the detail on all online returns. I help about 8 people a year with their taxes -- so I have a lot of interaction. It is also way easier to see the forms and see where I am in the process.

Going through the process is pretty straightforward, and I successfully completed my taxes without using tax advice; but some of the crazy questions asked and less-than-complete explanations of why something was the way it was, leave a lot to be desired. Even tapping on the link to an explanation or the help tab did not help.

Oldie but goodie

Used desktop version this year after having used the online version for a couple years. In the past I've had a tax accountant do my return, I've used turbotax desktop, and have used taxact. TT desktop UX is dated and a little clunky. It still works, but it's clear the UX team spends most of their time on the web version. I do prefer how desktop allows you to work off a file, which should make it nicer to do what-if, and deal with amended returns, which I did a couple years ago in the online version and the experience was rather poor. overall the product is good, powerful, just a bit dated.
Pros: My employment status changed this year, I bought or sold investments
