I wish that there was more detail about how to decide between withdrawing excess contribution to Roth IRA vs recharacterizing to Traditional IRA.

Turbo Tax works but sometimes it is difficult to understand just what the program is looking for. Not all of us are tax experts and understand the accounting terms. It might be helpful to tell us where to look for the information you need. I will not take e Mails.

Disappointed in TurboTax!

I have been using TurboTax for over 20 years. THis year I was disappointed. I went thru the whole final check process and since I owed money, debated printing and sending it or being cheap and e filing. Thank God I eFiled it. Turns out the IRS rejected it because I indicated my wife had healthcare from the exchange and they needed another form. Why didn't turbotax find this? Turns out Instead of owing $1,600 I was due a $690 refund. MAJOR FAIL!

Turbo Tax is good but needs improvement

Have used TT in one form or other for many years (>20 years). The current version needs some additions and improvements. I have suggested this before and haven't seen any, neither has anyone contacted me about my review despite the time I take to provide feedback regularly.
Overall - great product considering how complex the tax code is. Very thankful to be able to use it.
Needs additional capability - 1. If one's income is not constant through the year, one can end up with underpayment of with holding amount. The federal form allows for this and TT has this for the federal but it is confusing and if one item is entered wrong it messes up the whole tax file as there is no easy way to back out.
2. This capability for uneven income throughput the year is not supported in the state form (in my case IL). This means that every year I receive a corrected amount due from IL and then have to fill out the IL form and send it in by mail - which kind of defeats the purpose of electronic filing.
3. You should provide for the ability to print/review the return BEFORE having us enter all the e-file bank info because if the return needs to be changed that info is lost and we don't see a final printed copy till very late in the process.
SUMMARY of improvement requested - A. Please add the ability to nullify or back out of an entry with a button on the bottom of the page.
B. Please clarify instructions and help topics for uneven income through the year.
C. Please add form for avoiding with holding underpayment penalty for the State product as well.
D. Improve the process flow of seeing a print review of the return BEFORE entering all the file info at the last step.

overall excellent but a simple foreign tax credit from k1 trust was made overly complicated, circular and frustrating to navigate. It was a simple tax accrued, general basket with adequate foreign sourced income but not simple to wrap.
