Error in TurboTax Vermont Program Calculation

In my Vermont tax form, the TurboTax program erroneously included a deduction amount in Line 2 for a treasury bond which was not part of my federal adjusted gross income total amount, thus understating the state calculated federal AGI amount. The same error occurred in my 2023 Vermont tax filing and the state required a resubmittal of my 2023 tax form to adjust for the understatement. Since the line 2 amount is automatic, I was not aware of the error until the state identified it. When I went back over the 2023 state form calculations, I could identify that the line 2 adjustment made by the program was not part of the AGI amount and should not have been adjusted.

Looking for an Alternative

TurboTax is fine for a simple return. If you have a more complicated situation, it does makes it hard to complete your return. For example, foreign tax credits always cause an error. Home office expenses are hard to input. Deductions for Sch C are not well described. I'm going to try to find another product for 2025.
