1) I owed taxes on fed so I entered by bank info, then I had 2 different states that I get a refund... it would have been nice to have been asked if I wanted to reuse the bank information already entered in previous step... I wasted precious time retyping many pieces of info multiple times 2) part-time 2 states, at first after entering the W2 showing info for both states, it showed me that on the current state of residence I was owing tons of money in state taxes, something that was adjusted correctly later once I entered the about earned in the other states (much later)... in the meantime this caused me A LOT of stress and back/forth trying to understand the reason.... this could have been avoided if somehow the system could explain clearly why it was temporarily showing such number and that would get fixed in the later step.

Turbo Tax walks with you through every section of the return in an easy to understand way. The step by step process makes sense out of completing your return. I value the ability to switch from step-by-step to the actual forms to see where you're working and how the information is populating.

Accurate, good product but dreadful user interface

Basic product continues to be good, but user interface changes made this year are absolutely awful! That, combined with existing problems makes an even worse experience. It has gotten bad enough I may consider alternative products next year. When downloading investment and banking information, the screen just has big boxes with no useful information. It is just a bunch of wasted space to make it pretty or something. Empty downloads transferred from last year had no information at all. Multiple accounts from the same brokerage all just had the name of the brokerage but no identifying account information. On the download screen that does actually so downloaded information, it is narrow and truncates the part with the actual account number! There is no way to resize this either, no matter how large a monitor you may have. Even the overall window can be made larger, but that just results in empty space and not more information or larger information shown. Every window and sub-window should be made scalable up to the size of the monitor or the enclosing window. None are now. The only thing that can be scaled is the forms view. Rather than making the user interface better this year, they just added big ugly empty boxes. Is this supposed to be an improvement, or make it a "cleaner" interface? It took probably 10 times as long as it should have to try and figure out which download was which account than if the information, with complete, full account numbers was shown for each account. I do appreciate the detail and accuracy of the product in the back end, but the user interface has become painful and dreadful. In summary, make all windows scalable, get rid of big empty boxes, and have more information dense screens that are actually useful. Seriously, this has annoyed me to the point I may look to other products after using TurboTax since the days of DOS in the 1990s. Also new and annoying for this year, is the offer for online support for a fee. This comes up over, and over, and over. Ask me once and leave an option to add it if I need it later, don't keep bugging me for another paid service.
Pros: My employment status changed this year, I bought or sold investments
