I have used Turbo Tax for over 20 years. From basic to more complicated filings. It is intuitive and easy to use. Moreover, if you are stumped there are easy to access help answers and a real accountant if necessary. You will be pleased with Turbo Tax.

TurboTax Home & Business Works Well

I've used TurboTax Home & Business for the past several years. It works well for my self-employed business and my investment income. The step-by-step process for data input works well for the most part but does need some concentration to make sure all data is being input in the right places and accurately. I think it could be a little bit easier to input all the data, so I gave it a 4 out of 5 stars.

Serious Problems with the State Tax Software

The state products are VERY poorly constructed. Interviews and form fills don't work well. For example, for California, I couldn't generate the PTET credit form and had to override a field in order to enter a PTET credit. In Georgia, various forms didn't work right. In New York, I was unable to prepare an IT-225 that would feed into the main tax return. In PA, I had to edit EVERY SINGLE SECURITY that had a capital gain (hundreds) for a non-resident return when all of the securities were transactions from my home state that were not taxable in PA. The quality of the state return software has been declining every year. This year was especially poor. Please invest the time and energy to get this right. I've been using TurboTax for decades, but I'm tired of this every single year.
