Algorithm Completely Failed 3 States
on March 16, 2025

from MA
TurboTax's algorithm completely failed me. I worked in NJ/lived in NYC, then moved to MA, and it started double-counting my income and charging me WAY too much in unpaid taxes. It said I made $122,000--I'm a private school teacher! I made barely $70,000! I had to manually override twice to correct the double-counting. Disappointed that I have to PAY for this faulty help in order to PAY the government.
Pros: I moved

E-Filing Issues!!!!!
on March 16, 2025

I have used this program for many years. However, this year, 2024, I am not able to transmit my returns to the IRS or the state of NY because it is getting hung up on Form IT-225, Line A-101, that I don't know anything about, relating to a NY city flexible benefits program. It is telling me to take the information off of a W-2, which I do not have as a self employed individual.... Please contact me to fix this so I can transmit my returns.

Difficulties with Form 1099-B
on March 16, 2025
Posted by: pgoodric
I have used Turbotax for years and found it very helpful in guiding me through the complex forms and entries required by the tax code. This year was more difficult, however, because the program identified two 1099-Bs that I did not receive, and had no access to even after discovering and calling the banks involved. It seems the worksheet required data that I could not figure out until I had correctly identified the banks and accounts (a refinanced mortgage and a HELOC) that were involved. The line that asked for a sale date for the HELOC was misleading, since I did not "sell" the property, but merely paid off the HELOC. TurboTax should re-examine and clarify the way it treats Form 1099-Bs for properties that are being financed, not sold.

This is my ninth year using Home and Office. Each year the software has been impressive, easy to use, easy to read and operate. This version was as bad as it gets. Screen did not provide full access to forms, entire sections did not operate, instructions missing with no where to turn, no explanation of what was in the desktop vs download and I could go on. Hours wasted on the operating system. I finally contacted a support rep who spent 50 minutes making my download work. This was my last purchase. You ruined a great product. How sad.

rated a 5, however I did have some problems entering the RMD amounts when withdrawing from multiple accounts. After some analyst and adjustment I was successful in deriving the correct figures. I have used Turbo for over 10 years and have no issues.
