very annoying glitch that cost us $ and time

Our experience was fine until the very end. The program kept saying there was an error. But there wasn't. As a result we had to MAIL our return instead of eFILE our return. The glitch was about printing a Schedule C form for a deduction we weren't even taking... something about an energy efficient building for my wife's work... but she doesn't own the building!

Accurate and easy to use, but a bit sloppy

Always a good experience, though your software was sloppy this year. I erroneously checked the box that my business started in this year. While it correctly then required info about ammortizing start up costs during the smart check, once I corrected the cehck box to indicate it was NOT started in 2024, it still required Start Up cost Ammortization information.

Integrated marketing in the software is annoying

I have always been generally pleased with the software, but the increased marketing is annoying at best (Do you want to register? Do you want advice? Do you want Audit Defense?) is an annoyance at best and ridiculous. Save my freaking answer and stop asking over and over and over...

State must be submitted after the federal in order

So when I submitted my state taxes, I was charged the full $25---it wasn't until I got to the next step after submitting that there was the option to submit for the discounted price of $20. Kind of sucks as it encourages to file the state at the same time as federal. The use of the program itself was easy to use and good.
Pros: My employment status changed this year, I bought or sold investments

Issues with the 2024 Turbo Tax

I used TurboTax for several years without any issues. This was the first time I had pages in certain sections that wouldn't load. It took a lot of researching and trying multiple fixes before getting the problem taken care of and continuing with filing.

Terrible Experience for CO State Taxes

The experience this year was a hot mess. The fact that we had to submit the CO consumer use tax form separately, after having it included every year prior, added hrs and frustration to the process. The only reason we didn't miss it is because we're so used to filling it out. The support person we called was helpful in directing us to an answer, but the fact that there wasn't a clear indication of this change within TT meant we wasted unnecessary time trying to figure out what happened to it.
On top of that, we also got an unexpected message after filing that we had to print and mail an addition form, which we've never had to do before (our information wasn't really different this year compared to previous years). If we needed this form, why wasn't it called out before filing, instead of saying everything was checked, accurate and ready to go??? The "explain this" link for that step didn't have any answers, just redirected to the general support page. So we're still not entirely sure why it happened or what's need to fulfill all our tax requirements.
We've only ever used TT and always found it easy and helpful. But after the extremely frustrating and confusing experience this year, we're going to seriously consider switching to another service next year.
