Offered $20 to file state tax return; charged $25

TT works well, as always. But I'm unhappy about being offered state filing for $20 (as an Advantage customer) and then charging my credit card $25.

Married filing Seperate Federal but Joint Alabama

I have used Turbo Tax for many years. This year is first year my husband, and I need to file separate Federal Tax Returns but a Joint Alabama Tax return since he is retired and has social security. The social security put us on Federal joint return owing much more tax since I still work. Therefore, a separate federal return gave us less federal tax owed, but Alabama does not tax social security so better for us to file it Jointly. I wish Turbo tax would allow me to enter all information like a joint return and then select to file Federal Separately but file Alabama jointly. I know this means deductions will have to selected according to who pays but I think would be easy for software to do. This took me a lot of time trying to figure out how to do but I created two files one for me and one for my husband and then on mine a had to plug information in the forms on the Alabama Return for my husband's items. Then print and will mail the returns instead of efiling. Love the product but wish easier for these situations or even to test situations like these to see which would be better to file

Some limitations

Can only handle 1099-PATR with an entry in Box 1. No guidelines or help for additional boxes (5,6,8 and 12). This caused me a lot of trouble. Had to find out how to handle those entries and then force them manually into the proper IRS form. Seems like the program will not except "0" for Form 4835, Line 8.

First time using Turbo Tax. was not able to transfer data from Intuit to Turbo. That was disappointing.
