An Unanswered Question.

I computed my Federal tax due using the formula in the 2024 Federal Tax Tables (a relatively simple mathematical calculation). The answer I got is different than the amount calculated by TurboTax, but I am not sure why. I made this comment to TurboTax, but have not received an answer.

Very user friendly and provides quick answers to questions. The ability to easily switch between the Forms view and the EasyStep view is a real plus.

TurbotTax works, but has too much overhead.

The program works as advertised, but it requires too many and too frequent updates, each of which requires the entire executable to be downloaded first. TurboTax appears never to have learned how to make their programs modular to enable incremental upgrades.
TurboTax now requires a more recent version of MAC OS X than I can install on my older Mac. Fortunately I have a newer one that I had to move my older data files to. TurboTax appears never to have learned how to make their programs backwards compatible.

Fed portion works fine, Disappointed with state

The federal portion works well. It transfers the data from prior years, allows you to input or download data from the financial institutions, and easy to transmit return to the IRS.
The state portion is very limited. You have to do a thorough review, especially if inputting the tax info for financial institutions. The software reduced my state income by $2,100 by adding in information that was not input be me. I had to go to my state's site to find out what attachments are required when mailing our return.
Going to try another software for our 2025 filing
