Very helpful with standard income sources

For the most part, the guided way through the forms worked okay. When I had a question about where to find something, the intuit site wasn't very helpful. I finally would just post my question online, and would find answers from other Turbo Tax users (like trying to determine what file format my files needed to be in before loading into Turbo Tax-basically the import goes into the Financial Institution's website and does this for you)
Pros: I bought or sold investments

Took me way too long to find out my Fed Tax amount, had to go into the individual records to get it. Might as well used Paper 1040.
TT software price is WAY too high for us average folks. State taxes were "0", but had to pay $60 for the software.

Fees and Turbo Tax

Easy to use; downloading took longer than expected. Disclosure of fees not clear; if paying State fee with credit card or debit, do you avoid the $40 refund processing fee and still get your federal refund via direct deposit?

Often very oblique

I've used your software a few times. Sometimes smoothly, but not this year, especially on the state return. It was a royal pain trying to answer oblique questions about a specific line on the return, when that line isn't displayed or the information required isn't explained. I spent hours online trying to figure out what to input. I am not thrilled and wonder if it isn't some ploy to entice people to hire your tax experts. Not happy at all!!

Turbo Tax seems more flawed with each update.

I am a part year California resident, and my days in the state determines now much income I need to pay taxes on. Turbo Tax has that information, but you don't prorate it - I need to do it by hand. Why? I logged into my investment company through Turbo Tax, then the items say they need review. I go into review, but it goes again to import the forms again. I finally went to the investment company, got the forms and muddled through entering everything myself. I definitely should not have to do that!

The TurboTax works great, but the Tax forms do not print. It's sending the file to the printer and nothing happens. (I did check and my printer works well).

I've been doing my taxes with TT for many years. TT's new format this year for entering / importing 1099-INT and 1099-DIV was awkward. Also, the red exclamation points were unnecessary and a little alarming. The IRA RMD language is confusing. Those are the things that come to mind that made it a little harder this year.
