This Year's Experience - Less Than What it used to

This year - the entry screens for investment income - dividends, interest, simple capital gains, etc. - have been changed so that you can longer see a simple tabulated list of your 1099-DIV's, etc. along with their totals. TurboTax has put each individual investment into a huge dialog box that takes up half your computer screen for each one ... so when you try to do any kind of quick verification of your entries - well, you can't do it quickly anymore. This is a real disservice to your long-time users. - Also - annualizing your income - TurboTax automatically assumes its spread evenly across the year. If you're like me - it's heavy towards the fourth quarter and then I pay my taxes when they're truly due - TurboTax will not ask or prompt if you'd like to annualize. By default it will calculate an IRS Penalty ... This is an area ripe for program improvement ...!

There was around a $3000 swing from getting a refund to having to pay after an update was completed. It was finally restored after a correction on the RMD was plugged in. Don't know why that happened. But it sure made my hair stand on end.

Fee TurboTax
on February 23, 2025

It's easy to walk through, but then TurboTax gets you with their fees to file. Buy the product, pay for e-filing Fed, pay for e-filing for State. RIPOFF

Easy but deceptive advertising.

I want to know why it said by if I file my state tax return electronically it would be $20 but when it processed it conveniently charged me $25. Pretty deceptive. Then when I went to print my return it again advertised $20 filing for state. Guess what it was too late for me. I really would like my $5 back.

The CPA want $450 to do my taxes. I did them for under $100 and about 2 hours time. Next year it will be much quuicker because all my information is now entered.
Pros: I bought or sold investments
