TurboTax helped me learn new things.

I had 2 new 1099 Int accounts and TTax helped me add them, through Import. This year's import went smoothly, last year was a nightmare. Also, most of my questions were answered with the pop-ups. But TTax made a mistake on my retirement, thinking it was was part of my RMD. Once I fixed it to a regular monthly income it did go back and ask me the right questions. In sum, I had to learn a few new things and TTax helped.
Pros: I bought or sold investments

Remove Gliches

The software is horrible. I got three different outcomes at three different times. First time said nmy husband took a distribution before he was eligible. My husband is 78. So system showed we owed around $1000. Second time it had us not owing anything but getting money $75 back. Third time its saying he didnt take all his RMDs. And said he owed $4000 penalty. Crazy. He took all his RMDs. You have to get rid of the gliches.

Why am I being forced to EFile my state return? The only choice is to EFile now or later. But without selecting EFile I can't enter my Banking Info. Finally the state instruction sheet does not list instructions for mailing in the State return.

Federal S/W is Good, NM State S/W has Glitches

Turbo Tax remains easy and straightforward to use. For 2024 the New Mexico state return did NOT pull forward the State tax withheld amount entered in Box 14 of the 1099-R. That seems like a major glitch which causes more NM state taxes to show as due, instead of already paid. I had to make a correcting entry in one of the state worksheets to fix that issue. It was also NOT easy to enter Quarterly Estimated Tax Payments that were made throughout 2024. I would hope Turbo Tax would look into and fix those areas for 2025.

Do not use 2024 Turbo Tax

I've used Turbo Tax for years. This year's edition was confusing to follow and not user friendly. Very difficult to print return and cannot save as I don't have Windows. Major error on CO state return but cannot get through to Turbo Tax. I'll look elsewhere next year.

E-file should be FREE! This is ridiculous to have to pay to submit my taxes digitally!
Pros: I moved

Can I trust TurboTax's computations?

I was set to receive about a $2K refund. Then I opened TurboTax again, it did an update of the files, and then showed me that I owed about $10K to the IRS. After rechecking all of my figures, it looks like TurboTax changed my RMD answers (wrongly) and that was the problem. More work on my part. I would have given you a 5-start rating but this added more work to my already busy schedule.
