Best way to file

Easy-peasy. We have been using Turbo Tax every year since at least 1998, and have found it the easiest way to file every year, as it pulls in the previous year's data and will walk you through each step, if necessary.

Long time user but first time "digital download" and establishing an account. Still... best product on the market for both doing and filing federal and state taxes. Customer for life.

NAVIGATING THROUGH FORMS WAS NOT EASY FOR AN OLD FART. HAPPINESS, YOUR AUDITOR WAS WONDERFUL HELPING ME THROUGH THE INS AND OUTS. WE SPENT HOURS GOING THROUGH THE FORM BECAUSE OF A GLITCH WHICH SHE WAS ABLE TO WORK AROUND.

Some of the verbiage is confusing. Language should be in laymen's terms. No explanations of where some of the amounts came from. Program used to be simpler.

TURBO TAX HAS SOME BUGS.

1) I ENTERED MY INCOME AND THE TAX OWED AMOUNT WAS THOUSANDS, SO I CHECKED ALL OF MY ENTRIES AND THEY WERE CORRECT. I WENT TO THE COMMUNITY PAGE AND FOUND OUT I COULD ACCESS THE FORMS. WHEN I CHECKED THE FORMS, I FOUND THE ENTRIES ON TWO OF MY 1099Rs HAD AND EXTRA TWO AT THE BEGINNING; MY INCOME WAS BEING CALCULATED AT $400,000 MORE THAN IT WAS. ONCE I CORRECTED ENTRIES, CALCULATIONS WERE CORRECTED. 2) THE INFORMATION FROM MY BROKERAGE ACCOUNT DIDN'T ALL TRANSMIT AND I HAD TO HAND ENTER SOME INFORMATION. TEDIOUS; THIS IS WHY I DOWNLOADED THE INFORMATION. 3) I DON'T LIKE HAVING TO ADD PAYMENT INFORMATION TWICE FOR EACH RETURN.

Wording could be simplified and more specific
on February 19, 2025

I file as "married filing jointly". in preparing to e-file, the software asks Did I file a 2023 tax return. After replying yes, It asks did my wife file a tax return in 2023. I believe the wording could be much more specific to avoid an error . . . like saying no for my wife since she did not file a separate return.
