Turbo Tax is cumbersome, and dead wrong on MN Tax

1 star only because I couldn't leave it blank, would prefer negative 5 starts. Turbo Tax is very cumbersome to use. I needed to make a change to my income, and had to do an online search to figure out how, without starting all over. Throughout the process, I had to keep declining to pay for TT's "Expert Help". But here's the worst: Turbo Tax is dead wrong on the Minnesota Property Tax Refund. For 2023 and 2024 TT told me I don't qualify. Didn't have time last year to investigate, but this year I did. I *do* qualify. I submitted a Form M1PR for 2023 Online last week, and received a $943 Refund. I will submit the 2024 form as soon as I get my Property Tax statement in March; I expect it will be about a $1200 refund, since my income is lower and Property Tax is higher than last year. Turbo Tax is just plain wrong on this.

Disappointed

I have used Turbo Tax for 20 years. I did not like the change of some of the entry pop-up. The new changes were not appreciated. Also directions were not clear. In addition I have to pay a penalty but no where do I find the form for where it was calculated.

I have been using turbo tax many years and I find it very easy to use . But this year when I got to the point of filing it asked me to log in to turbotax in order to save the information before I cvould enter my payment method to file. It has never asked me to do that before, as I save the files to my coimputer and also to a thumb drive. I do not need or want this information stored in the cloud or wherever it saved it. That in its self makes me question what you need that information for.

529 - becareful

Turbo Tax is easy to use for the most part. The verbiage and prompts related to education credits and 529 savings accounts could be improved. For our specific situation, it's a good thing I know the rules or else would have reduced our small refund (this year) or increased the amount we paid in (last year). Had to hunt for the correct worksheet to enter the expenses because the software repeatedly instructs "you exceed income limit for education tax credits". NO! the worksheet isn't for a credit, it's to prove we shouldn't be taxed on the portion of the 529 dispersement from it's earnings over the years.
