solid and simple. Buy it, use it. If you try to gather the forms and do it without software you missed the boat.

Turbo Tax Deluxe, Federal only- Easy to use especially if you've last year's return info that gets picked up in the current year. A couple of nitpicks: I havent found a summary page that lists long term capital gain amounts by institution making it easier to crosscheck the inputs, and TT is too subtle with form 2210 AI & 2210 (late tax penalty, Annualized Income). TT will show an error on form 2210AI if its not filled out, but you will only see that when/if you go to "forms". Otherwise, the first clue TT gives about a tax penalty is line 38 (1040-SR). After that clue, you have to go find 2210AI & 2210 in forms and make inputs directly. Nice that TT figures out

Have used Turbo Tax for probably 20 years or longer. I see no reason to change the tool that I use. I love it! My only request is that there be something included in the Deluxe and upward packages, for the Gift Tax Return (Schedule 709). Although it is considered a separate return by the IRS, it would be nice to have it included as a supplement to the Deluxe and up.
