DESKTOP VERSION DOES NOT E-FILE

Desktop version does not E-File if you are enrolled in IRS IP PIN. The IRS IP PIN uses a 6 digit number. Turbo Tax only allows for input of a 5 digit number, although the printout shows a 6 digit space. The 5 digit number is not printed out on the 1040 form. So you either print and mail, or opt out of the IRS IP PIN system.
Pros: I moved

This year was the easiest and fastest yet. I also got the largest refund ever. Thank you TurboTax and President Trump.

Unexplained changes

Turbo Tax accepted my figures and said we had a refund of 4321.00. However we got almost $500 less and no explanation of why the difference. Frustrated with not knowing and now not trusting Turbo Tax to be accurate.

On line vs desk top version confusion
on February 12, 2026

I've used Turbo Tax for years and loved it. This year there was some confusion for me with premium and using desktop or on line version. apparently paid extra for premium unnecessarily and couldn't figure out how to opt out

I had trouble with the desktop install. It had to do with signing in to my Intuit account. None of the options wanted to do anything, and I had to restart my install process. Also, I had trouble getting last year's taxable Social Security info correctly on the form. It kept not liking what I thought was the answer. I think that was more my thick head, not understanding the forms instructions and Turbo Tax error wasn't helpful but I finally got it corrected and was then able to efille ok. Sometimes the Guidance was redundant or not intuative to what I had entered. Seems like there was no problem with accuracy.
