Maybe it's time for TT to up its game

The system is pretty predictable--like death and taxes, I suppose. But it really hasn't changed much in many years. I think it's time to inject more context sensitive AI and a bit more understanding about the client using it by looking at past returns, both things a decent tax preparer would do.
The final review is clumsy. For instance, if you have an estimated amount in the What-if form, it flags it as an error. How does this affect the accuracy of current year taxes? Another example is an override on estimated withholding for calculating future estimated tax. How is that an error?
Other parts for more complicated returns are difficult to use as well, particularly K-1s, computation of QBI, etc.
It's a fine product, but it could be a lot better for the money. The company needs to feed the cow more and milk it less.

Some interface issues

It was difficult to find where to enter the amount sent to the IRS for Form 4868 for an Extension. K-1 form entries were not guided step by step. Had to manually go through the form to fill out all of the K-1 information.

State Allocation Needs Help

I have a complex return as I needed to file in 4 different states. TurboTax did not properly allocate my state income so I needed to go into the forms in order to get these amounts correct. I'm an accountant, so I understood what needed to be done, but still found the process to be overly challenging. I'm sure that there are a large population of users who have to allocate and the process could definitely use some major improvements.

Very bad help system, extension cannot be filed fr

1. The logic flow hardly uses commonsense; it asks questions even if a person goes to check on the accuracy of a certain screen. 2. The screen to file an extension is gone. 3. the gains from stocks screen, instead of showing a list, shows a big blob for each imported company, making it difficult to see at a glance if we imported all our brokerages. 4. Why not allow browser like interface allowing cutting of displayed text? 5. The Help has been screwed up, it is not context based on the screen you asked for help on, additionally if you search for something like a form, the ability to go to the form was typically the first choice earlier. That help has gone, finding a form is next to impossible.
