TurboTax does not handle situations with a court appointed executor filing on behalf of a deceased individual well. Although it is indicated by the customer that the form 1310 with the appropriate court documents have been mailed to the government, TurboTax does not allow the federal or state return to be filed electronically, only allows for it in situations of not having a court appointed executor. Futher TurboTax has the customer pay for a state state eiling fee and then informs them that the Federal and State Return cannot be filed. This needs to happen earlier in the process rather than after paying for efiling.

Turbo Tax awesome, except for one error message!

This is the first time in over 12 years of using Turbo Tax to do my taxes that I've hit a brick wall. I kept getting an error about needing to uncheck the total distribution box in order to make the 1099-R entry valid. Eventually, I had to file an extension. The error never went away, so I finally coughed up $60 to speak with a Turbo Tax expert. She just kept reading the error to me (as if I haven't been doing that for 6 months) and I was finally able to get her to listen to the things I've tried. I sent in a diagnostic file, and after some research, the person I spoke to pinned down the problem. There was a field in the 1099-R that said $0.00 and yet I had left that field in Turbo Tax blank! Fixing that solved the error and allowed me to e-file. But I honestly believe the extremely misleading error message should be examined/changed to catch the use case of "expecting a number in box..." in which case I wouldn't have had to call for $60 and delay the submittal of my return for so long!

Good software / incorrect charge for efile

filing is mostly straight forward, easy to follow and instruction provided. Payment amount for filling was not correct. the credit was not properly apply to efile payment.

Problems using multiple states

Impossible to engage in a live expert.
When using multiple states, only the Federal and one state appears at the top bar. Have to switch back and forth with forms to see other states.
Get multiple printing errors about debugging.
I am working on NY and in the final review it pops up with an error with my MD tax form that already been filed and didn't surface when I did a final review of my MD taxes.
I am working on states and keep getting a message that I need for file an additional Federal form for capital gains disclosure
