TurboTax is a major disappointment!!

The user interface needs serious upgrading. The phrasing of the questions is often confusing. Navigation can be difficult and finding things not intuitive. Too many instances of asking the user to do calculations or access information from prior year that the software should be able to do itself. User's time is not respected. These same problems have existed for years and I don't know why I am continuing to pay every year for a product that is as bad as it was five years ago.

Great for the average taxpayer

I've been using TurboTax for a long, long time, and have been very happy with it. One year I was staying with my son in Florida, my wife used H&R Block back home, wonderful experience. A few years later there were several new situations that we didn't know how to deal with, so we went to H&R again. Awful, awful experience. Multiple errors. BIG errors. (underpaid Fed, missed $400 state refund). The next year knowing how to handle those new situations, I went back to TurboTax, and have NO plans to ever leave. If new situations that I don't understand come up, I will consult with TurboTax experts. If your taxes are as simple as most of ours are, I HIGHLY recommend TurboTax.

Is TT Going Downhill, or Simply Getting Greedy?

TurboTax has gone downhill. I am not sure if they are getting worse at developing their programs, or they make it intentionally confusing, forcing you to buy the "Live Tax Advice" up-sell. Self-Research tools are gone and communication between Federal and State returns (especially in multi-state filings) has become almost non-existent.
