Problem with Error Check
on April 14, 2025
Posted by: Tom1971Help
Had some problems this year with error check. Got message saying Congratulations - No Errors. Then at a second check got multiple errors. Have used TurboTax for many years and never had this problem. Still love your software but it was frustrating this year. The return I was working on was not even very complicated.

I've used Turbo Tax for years and it is so EASY!! It walks you through every step of the process and will even prompt you to think about things you may have forgotten so that you can get the maximum amount of deductions.

frustrated this year

I've used TTax for years. I am frustrated with the changes they make that make inputting in things that are so simple, like Interest/Dividends or Capital Gains, right off the 1099's to the 2024 version of Deluxe instead of 1 small table, someone though they could make it pretty and created separate colorful boxes breaking down categories., that takes up a whole computer screen, making it more difficult to see everything on a 13" computer screen! Totally unnecessary when the tool ALREADY walks us through it or we can see it in List format which is so much easier to spot and "Update" if needed.
Also, when we have an easy 1099-INT or DIV to add a couple numbers ourselves, it is FASTER! Why make me go in and out of ONE box 4 times for different things, but it simply took me to the same input screen each time. It's like they eliminated a good tool with one that adds several steps if you have more than one company, whereas before it was literally on separate lines, one under another. Dumb.
I'm also questioning the COST. The price they want for the software is getting higher and higher, especially now that some can do it online for free, with different companies, even earners up to $60,000 I think I saw last year.
I went to pay for uploading my state return. They don't tell you in advance the cost, but it was $25. However on the screen to "pay," it also said there was a $40 return processing FEE. it was worded poorly and the word "return" was interesting--does that mean for each states I need to submit to in addition to the $25? (Nicely offered to take that out of my government return--seriously no, why do you need to get involved in my banking business and what the government sends me?
I just finished with irritation after searching for an answer for 2 days on and off--but if you want the company to answer a question about the tool/survey/where to find something before essentially searching on the TT comm. website... it's no longer as good as it used to be. We used to be able to type in a word, it would pop up, you'd select the correct one, and it took you to that exact place in the tool. So if you needed to know where you put in nondeductible IRA contributions, boom... Now you search and search and have to go through the tool over again. Oh by-the-way, the dang tool ERASES what you 1st put in if you do that...the boxes do not stay filled in.. BY now I could've paid someone $150 to do a fairly easy return, instead of messing around and paying $125 (product & 2 states).
Turbo Tax has been a good product. I continue because I'm familiar with the tool and can upload last year's returns fast. However,
In addition,

Mostly helpful.
The integration with the credit card for payment of forms does not work so it is really difficult to finish the taxes.
No website help and would think to call to wait for hours on the phone.
