I couldn't e-file because of Form 8990. Other than that, it's very easy to use and covers many topics with tons of advice.

TurboTax NEEDS WORK

please get together between your E-MAIL NOTICES and your TEXT MESSAGES. For the last 4 days I get different notices each time I look at the NOTIFICATIONS. Each notice IS DIFFERENT. When I look at the Turbo Tax program it says something different, We have used your product for years and NEVER had a problem, this year I feel because of "DOWNLOAD" ONLY, the quality is VERY POOR. I am not sure we will be using your product again. With all the time is has taken to check and recheck, it will be cheaper to pay a professional to do them.

Had problems loading TurboTax Software. some sort of issue with virus checking software. Probably not a TurboTax problem, but still took hours to resolve.

Worst Turbotax EVER: fails with 1099s

The 2024 tax year version is the worst version of TurboTax I have ever used. We are retired, with no W2 earnings but many variations on 1099 earnings, including multiple 1099 statements for a single retirement account, each of which had different purposes (RMD, rollover from 403(b) to regular IRA, Roth conversion, and a QCD). Turbotax **COULD NOT** properly separate out these different purposes via the interview questions. The result was that it declared I had three times the RMD that was necessary, so it repeatedly tried to penalize me for inadequate withdrawals. I had to run through the income section dozens of times, deleting and re-entering 1099s using different answers to the questions until I hit upon the strategic "untruths" I had to tell Turbotax to arrive at the truthful and accurate results for the IRS.

If you must pay taxes...

Well, I have been using Turbotax for at least 20 years.I have little knowledge of how to do my taxes but TurboTax has always gotten me through this sometimes traumatic experience. I have filed with deductions or with the standard deduction, sometimes I had complications, but I always felt secure in the belief that Turbotax had helped me get my taxes right.
