The opportunities to improve the product are boundless. From my standpoint, Turbotax meets a minimal expectation but does little more to impress. Some of my key issues / areas for improvement are:
- better visibility to how things get calculated - taxes for example. This is the very reason we are using the software - to determine amount of taxes - yet the details are buried in some worksheets that maybe you are able to find
- inconsistent navigation. For example, I want to revisit a SEP IRA contribution. Almost impossible to find it. Try searching, where you are presented with 2 or 3 more levels of help and screens before finally being provided the link. How about showing the user how to get back to that place the next time? What about the ability to store some favorite placeholders to places in the filing progression
- State taxes, said it before. This is abysmal. Almost no intelligent navigation. Instead - here's a whole page of things that you might want to go look at. No context to whether any of them are applicable to your situation. Might as well just give us a spreadsheet and ask us to fill it in for ourselves!
- Canadian RRSPs - NO, zero, integration between federal and state. Used to be there was a paragraph that dealt with it. Now its not even mentioned in the state section for California. The user is left to figure it out for themselves.

Turbo Tax is a great tool

I have used turbo tax for many years, and it has served me well, always. It makes it very easy to file your taxes while knowing you have covered every important issue involved.

Entered foreign income in error. could not go back and remove it. FOUGHT stupid program for several hours till I could file. I'm sure my taxes are flagged now for audit
