Turbo Tax review
on April 14, 2025

I was happy with Turbo Tax until I had to input interest on checking and similar accounts. Turbo Tax wanted to import the information from each institution, while I wanted to make the entries manually. I had to go through a couple of steps to get out of importing and then choose interest from 5 category boxes. Then it was a step or two before I could make the entry. When I had completed one 1099 I had to go through the same routine for all the rest. Very, Very annoying.

TurboTax 2024 won't run on Windows 11
on April 14, 2025

TurboTax 2024 won't run on Windows 11. There's no explanation, just a generic message that reads, "Looks like we've run into an error". I gave up after an hour of troubleshooting and installed it on an old Windows 10 PC I have in the house and it worked perfectly, though TurboTax did display a warning message that Windows 10 won't be supported after October 2025. Ironic, since Windows 11 is apparently not supported by TurboTax either. I'm just glad I had an old PC laying around and was able to get my taxes finished on time.

Why people hate TurboTax

While I have used TurboTax since the guy who wrote it gave me a sample copy on a 5.25" floppy disk the company feels they have to make it more complicated every year. Not that they invest anything into doing literally anything to improve it. But their software writers are so desperate to make the boss feel like they're needed they come up with absolutely stupid new rules, for example, at the very end they want you to sign in to Intuit. Why, I am already signed in to TurboTax. Then they make you fill out forms that they should already know, then they force you to have them send you an email to get a security pin which forces you to have them send you a text message to do the exact same thing. Why are these kids who work there so paranoid? It's no wonder that TurboTax is one of the most hated apps by so many reviewers.

I have been a loyal customer for a few year. Just wish that you could automate K2 investment forms.

You're making it harder to like Turbotax...

Less is not necessarily more. Less is not necessarily more. Prefer to have BOTH Prior year as well as Current year amounts display next to each other at the same time as we are doing the taxes. TT continues to hide details behind the curtain, so to speak.
