DONT LIKE THE CHANGES TO THE PROGRAMS! LIKED THE OLD VERSION BETTER - MORE STRAIGHTFORWARD AND NO RISK OF DUPLICATIONS.

Simple if you follow the guidance. Key to success is to have all the documents organized during the year and then filing is simply plugging the numbers in the proper places.

TURBO TAX WORKS, BUT IT SEEMED MORE CONVOLUTED THIS YEAR. I FELT IT KEPT WANTING ME TO GO HERE OR THERE AND REVIEW OR CONSULT THIS OR THAT. I'D CLICK "FILL ALL IN MYSELF", BUT THEN IF I ANSWERED NO ON SOMETHNG, IT WOULD BACK TRACK OUT TO THE MAIN SECTION BUT ALL THE SUBSECTIONS HAD BEEN SKIPPED. IT WANTED ME SEE OTHER OTHERS HAD SAID/THOUGHT ON TURBO TAX - I DON'T CARE - JUST WORK FOR ME... IF I SAY ALL LET ME GO THROUGH ALL AND CLICK NO, OVER AND OVER. IF I CANT JUST INPUT MY TAXES AND FEEL CONFIDENT ABOUT IT THEN, I'LL JUST HAVE TO CONSULT A CPA ON MY OWN AND NO LONGER USE TURBO TAX. RED FLAG - I DON'T WANT TO KNOW WHAT "OTHERS" DID OR THINK - THEY ARE IDIOTS - I WANT TO KNOW WHAT A PROFESSIONAL SAYS OR THINKS. - NO BODY ELSE. TURBO TAX HAS BEEN GOING DOWN IN QUALITY OVER THE PAST FEW YEARS IN MY OPINION. IT TOOK ME 3 PHONES CALLS (ABOUT 2 HOURS) JUST TO DOWNLOAD THE PROGRAM TO BE ABLE TO DO MULTIPLE TAX RETURNS.

TurboTax Has Become Horrible

I tried the online version and it was a mess. I'm a systems engineer of 40+ years and I had to call support to find out where to upload my previous tax form. I hope the Grandmas out there can figure it out. Also, the price online was more expensive than buying the desktop version.
One big annoyance is TurboTax has been trickle-charging over the past 10 or so years to the point where the face-value deals are actually a form of bait-and-switch -- explained to me by a TurboTax tax professional -- that because Intuit has done the minimally acceptable "buyer beware" verbiage to satisfy the FTC, it only covers them legally. Regardless of the legalities, Intuit's intent is to lure people in before slamming them with TONS of hidden fees. "File for Free" is complete bunk.
