My only with would be is if you want to mail in your state taxes, there is a box you can mark to guide you through that process.

Necessary Evil

It works, but they try to upsell you constantly with unnecessary services. When you purchase the "Deluxe Federal and State" what they don't say is "we will still charge you for state filing". I hope the IRS makes their free filing system available to everyone and puts this whole corrupt industry out of business.

TurboTax Not What It Used to Be

I've been using TurboTax for more than 18 years. This version for tax year 2024 was the worst I've ever used. It was tedious and difficult to use. Many of the questions asked during data entry could have been picked up and prefilled with answers from previous years. This year, I downloaded my 1099s from my financial institution instead of manually entering them as in past years. That went surprisingly well, and I was impressed with the speed at which the information was downloaded.
However, TurboTax then reported that I needed to review and update several files. It prompted me to download the files again when I tried to edit one, which I did. Now I had three copies of every file! I finally figured out the program had downloaded new files instead of updating the existing files carried forward from the previous year. After I deleted the old and duplicate files, I was able to proceed. There should have been a warning or notice to delete previous files when downloading new ones, or the program should have updated existing entries.
Entering data in the income sections was tedious, having to scroll down to the next section to work on. When working sequentially down the sections, you should be able to pick up where you left off, not have to go back to the top of the page. All went well after that until I tried to pay for e-filing the state return. The window with the billing information could not be resized to display it completely, causing the action buttons at the bottom to be under the task bar, and the window was too narrow to display entirely. I couldn't tell how much the audit service cost or opt out of ordering it. Assuming the highlighted button was the one I needed to press to continue, I clicked the top edge of the button, but it took me back to the top of the screen. After a few tries, thinking I had the wrong button, I went to Windows settings and hid the taskbar to allow the button to appear and work. I suspect being 90% overlaid by the taskbar rendered it unresponsive because the active area was too small to be clicked. Now that the horizontal scrollbar was visible, I scrolled over to see the charges and placed my order.
What a pain to use!
