turbo tax sucks

its bad enough what I pay for the program but to efill the state and add another state the extras are costing more than the original cost of program your little $10 credit does nothing

I have used TurboTax for at least 20 years, and it never disappoints. I have tried other software, but I always comeback to TurboTax. I appreciate the way the software walks you through each item. Also, the analysis and review that the software completes before the filing. I would recommend it to all my friends.

The Turbotax interface and workflow hasn't changed in over 10 years. The app is easy to use but there are a few features that would be helpful:
- A search function that allows me to find keywords anywhere in the step-by-step or forms. I'm often digging through page after page looking for a keyword or a name.
- Ability to turn off the Refund banner at the top. With kids and other family around I don't need them to see the refund at the top.
- An updated Dependent residence determination for foster kids. Currently it doesn't account for foster kids that live with us for partial year. According to the IRS: "This child is considered to have lived with you for more than half of 2024 if your main home was this child's main home for more than half the time since this child was adopted or placed with you in 2024."

Turbo Tax is great!!

I've been using Turbo Tax for 13 or more years now and one area that really needs updating is the section where you "value" charitable contributions. I don't believe it's been updated in terms of values for individual donations in all the years I've used it. The table formatting has changed a little, but the values have not. As someone who donates a lot to charity, I feel my donations are severely undervalued. The Salvation Army charges much more in their stores for individual items then what I am "allowed" to deduct.

Very helpful tool until you tried to charge me $45 to route some electrons to the state for my state tax return. Shady business practices hoping to prey on the unobservant.
