Turbo Tax is great!

My wife and I filed married/separate for various reasons. We needed to take the standard deduction, but when I filed, i did not see where I could select the standard deduction without going through the list of items for using the itemized deduction. This was time consuming when I already knew that I would have to take the standard deduction.

The software is easy to use. I do not like that there is an additional charge to send the state tax forms. It should be included in the cost.

Turbo Tax: making tax preparation easy

Turbo Tax has great explanations and the prompts are easy to follow and intuitive. The year to year comparison is also helpful in evaluating if you missed some forms or other items that you used in the past.

Bring DVDs Back

I'd really like the DVDs. I like keeping the DVD in my box along with the paperwork so I don't have to go looking for it when/if needed.

TurboTax Makes it Harder to Use, Again!

No warning about changes made to Turbo Tax. Interest and Dividends are combined in one section and the customers have to go through the software process to enter each 1099 (INT or DIV), and this new process prompts for input source for each 1099. Customers like me, who started using TurboTax when the process was simpler, have to deal with "surprise" changes in inputting data. Like many aging taxpayers I find that aging and change makes it more difficult to follow a process when there are unexpected changes in the process. Seems like there have been changes annually for the past three years and change is not welcome to us longtime users. If a coder or AI is used to write the instructions for TurboTax, I strongly suggest enlisting committees of humans (by age group) to review the product. (Notice that I use the word software instead of app.)
