I find using Turbo Tax is very easy to use and it gets better every year. I have been using Turbo for at least 10 years.

I have always loved TurboTax and all of its features and capabilities. And hope to continue using it in the future, if possible. Because I don't know what I would do without it. But, I am not able to set everything else aside while I do my taxes exclusively. So this year, when it was necessary to temporarily step away from my completely up-to-date 2-year-old iMac, I would close out the TurboTax app and turn off my computer (my attempt at a security measure, as I worry about hacking). But then, weird things began to happen. Each time when I would return to my desk to continue using TurboTax, the screen that popped up, oddly seemed to be a different version of TurboTax, though I had only purchased one version - the online Advantage version). And as was also oddly the case last tax year, not all of my return's information transferred to the current tax year, so that TurboTax could use it to accurately support this year's return. Info for the previous year's tax return was not complete or entirely accurate. It was like the TurboTax app did not “realize” that I had used it to file my taxes during the previous year. And the app kept referring to my having filed (the previous tax season), using only standard deductions. In reality, I had used the itemized deduction method (for almost forever). So rather than my taking the time to manually rebuild the previous year's return for purposes of comparing the two returns, I just plundered onward without viewing a complete or accurate comparison. I’m not sure how I ensure that the info from my completed return will accurately transfer to the next year's return. This is the biggest reason I prefer the "hard" CD version of TurboTax. Less chance for confusion to build up. But I am told that in tech world the CD version of TurboTax (and of most things IT), has died away and is no longer available. Such a pity. 😢🥹😫
In spite of any minor glitches along the way, TurboTax got me over the hump (again). And successfully got my federal and state returns filed accurately and on time. Thank you TurboTax! Whew. 😅

I have been using TurboTax since it's beginnings and I would recommend this program to everyone. In my opinion it is the best program on the market.

TurboTax Needs Work

I have used TurboTax (TT) for over 20 years, and I had more difficulty with the product this year than I can remember from years prior.
1) The first problem area was importing documents from some financial institutions. In some cases, I made an electronic connection with a financial institution but no data or partial data imported. After several unsuccessful tries, I ended up entering the data manually. I had problems with imports from Edward Jones and Charles Schwab.
2)The second problem area was navigating the screens in the dividends/interest/investments area. When I tried to review information in this area on my return, boxes summarizing the information from each financial institution popped up on the left side of the screen. When I clicked on the down arrow in each box for more details, the screen continually reverted back to the top of the page and I had to scroll back down to get the section I was reviewing. This was very annoying and a big waste of time-I went through this process many times. I do not understand why clicking on the down arrow for more information moved back to the top of the page.
3) The third problem area was also with these summary boxes that appeared on the left side of the screen. On one occasion, there was a note in the box that an item needed further review, but there was no indication of what or where needed review. Multiple times I went through this exercise of trying to find the error/missing information including looking at the actual tax forms. Finally after numerous attempts a highlighted box appeared on a form indicating missing information. I needed to indicate whether it was a short or long term gain/loss which in my opinion should have been imported along with the other data from Edward Jones.
I was disappointed that I had these problems this year with TT because I was expecting some major upgrades in the product. After the 2023 Tax Year, I participated in several evaluations of TT including reviewing/using a Beta version and participating in a lengthy Zoom interview with your TT Evaluator.
Pros: I bought or sold investments

great program, but there's a problem

I love the program as it makes doing my taxes very easy. However, there is a problem with the program that is very annoying, which I have complained about for the last few years, hoping it would be fixed but so far it has not. The problem is that every time I finish entering information for any area, the program sends itself to the back of my desktop. I have to then go to my desktop page and bring it forward again. Doing this 40-50 times while entering information is not only annoying but time consuming. Why can't you just have it go to the next page after clicking continue? I spoke to a person named Crystal who tried to help me fix this but to no avail. She was extremely kind and helpful and advised she took detailed notes of the problem and would pass it on. I'm hoping you can get this fixed before next year's version comes out.
Pros: My employment status changed this year

Something is not right for NJ state return
on April 7, 2025

All over is good.
But I like last year's NJ return better.
This year I had to do it THREE times to get the job done.
Last year we had the community discussions, but not this year. I hope you will bring it back next year.
