Turbo Tax gets the job done.

6th year using Turbo Tax. It has saved us a lot of money in preparation fees. The only cost is my time using the software. Occasionally I have question and their experts walk me thru it.

A tough year for using Turbotax

I'm a long time user. Turbotax 2024 was much more difficult to use this year. New screens/user interfaces for downloads of W-2s and 1099s were not at all intuitive and confusing to navigate. The displays showed "phantom" downloads where values were blank and apparently were pulled forward from the prior tax year. The auto update completely froze once and required me to research online the technical work-around/recovery. The workflow for Foreign Tax Credits for passive income is nearly intractable and most computed values are not displayed/explained. Plus, while I'm resigned to accepting it, the multiple screens/locations for entering medical expense information (medical expenses, business expenses, marketplace premiums) is exhausting to navigate. An annoying issue is the Federal error check continually requiring an optimizer check box for American Opportunity/Lifetime Learning credits. Finally the Q&A for MA state returns is very confusing - even misleading - with respect to updating tax loss carryforwards.

Turbo Tax allows me to do what my Mother taught me to do. Do your own taxes instead of paying someone else. The guidance covers all tax scenarios.

Have used for the last 12 years, never having a problem and always correct. Easy to follow directions and quick help if needed. I will continue to use for years to come. Great Tax forms. I highly recommend.
