I've been a Turbotax Deluxe customer for many years and always found it easy to use - until this year. Too many items were updated late into the tax filing year, and it seemed that updates caused additional errors to show up. As a retired individual relying on pensions and annuities for monthly income, I did not appreciatemthe fact that the pension and annuity section was not available until mid-January. This made tax planning in December virtually impossible.

I have been using TurboTax for several years to do my taxes. I used to do my taxes by hand but as they got more complicated looking up the right forms, etc made the process longer. Now if I need to use a form TurboTax figures it out for me. If I really want to look at the details I still can. Help is always available when there are questions. I don't see myself changing unless the tax system is reformed to the point where we governments take care of it all for us.

Potentially worthless

Interface is good, however, the Smart Check leaves a lot to be desired. Descriptions for errors are brief and the software does not highlight the value that needs to be changed/revisited. It will not let you file if there are errors still in place leading to an endless loop of frustration making it potentially worthless. Will likely go with a CPA next year instead.
