Why $45 more for state with Turbo Tax Deluxe?
on March 31, 2025

I am doubting whether to continue using Turbo tax--Is this product lying to the public? Where is my one State free download with the purchase of Turbo Tax Deluxe? Why is the software asking me to pay another $45 to download CA? I am supposed to be able to download one state for free; even if I have to send it in via mail on paper and not file the state electronic.

COULD USE SOME INTERFACE HELP

EXPLANATIONS COULD BE A LOT BETTER. REPORTING INTEREST INCOME FROM BANKS COULD BE MUCH SIMPLIFIED. A LOT OF BACK AND FORTH. THE SOFTWARE IS TOO EXPENSIVE. $20 WOULD BE A MORE ACCEPTABLE PRICE. I BLAME THE POLITICIANS FOR ALLOWING SUCH COMPLEXITY; IT LOOKS LIKE A MAKE-WORK FOR POLITICAL CONTRIBUTIONS FROM TAX PREP COMPANIES LIKE YOURS.

Schedule K1 were difficult to enter.

Generally, I thought walking through the instructions was pretty much on par with prior years. However, I did find the instructions for entering the Schedule K1 to be cryptic and confusing. I had several K1s to enter and I had to go back over each one a couple of times to make sure I thought I entered the information correctly. Why not just walk me through all the parts, sections, boxes, and codes in a linear set of steps rather than having me choose the sections to complete. It was not clear to me if I needed to enter zero amounts or not, but to be safe I entered them. In addition, I'm not that familiar with Partnership Tax filings or the jargon used, so I felt like I struggled to understand what the K1 entries meant. To be honest, I didn't feel very confident that I was understanding the Schedule K1 form and other tax package information, which still has me a bit concerned.

I enjoy the ability to automatically load W-2 information and to carry forward the prior year data which allows for a comparison period.
Pros: I had a baby

I have been using TurboTax for years. It is excellent because the steps are easy to follow, and the software is sophisticated and meets IRS requirements.
