TurboTax sucks but what is the alternative?

It knows I don't have to do a state income tax return because I only inputted income from a state without a state income tax but it keeps asking anyways. I spent probably a minute clicking the stupid captcha pictures of sidewalks and "motorcycles" (they're all scooters not motorcycles by the way) only to be told it can't import my data from my brokerage. This is 2025, it should not be that difficult. Every year I hope that they fixed importing brokerage data but every year I am disappointed. I would say Intuit should assign someone to work on that but who are we kidding? There's no one actually bothering to update this program.
I swear TurboTax is getting worse every year, but I have to keep shelling out money for it because Intuit pays lobbyists to keep Congress from fixing this mess.

Help feature was useless. Couldn't find the penalty waiver form anywhere. The program couldn't find my 2023 taxes though I used Turbotax and let it configure where the files were stored.

Doesn't take you through all the forms that need to be filled out. They turn up at the end as "mistakes" so you never get to actually see what all needs to be filled out. You're left filling in random fields. Rather scary.
