This year, TurboTax was disappointing and messy

We have been using TurboTax for a decade and were extremely disappointed in this year's version. The software did not save the data we originally entered, and we wasted hours re-entering our fiscal information. There were broken links. The support information was unclear at best (Schedule C turned into a serious headache). We will definitely consider other options next year.

It is better than some other products. It is very disappointing they no longer include free e-file for States.

Turbo Tax is a solid program

I love the product and have been using it for years and would normally give it 5 stars. However, this year, it didn't walk me through the schedule C worksheet. I had to go back and forth to fill it out as the errors popped up during smart check. In the past, the questions popped up as I went through the initial process. Not sure if this has to do with the new 1099-NEC form, but thought I would mention it for other users who have schedule C.

Insufficient Withholding Penalty

The overall ease of use is very good and it produces excellent copies of forms (yes, I file paper forms manually for my own peace of mind reasons). I ran into an issue this year where Turbo Tax calculated that I owed an underpayment penalty. I just retired the prior year (2023) and this is the first full year without the usual payroll tax with holdings. I am applying for a one-time waiver of the penalty based on unfamiliarity with the requirements, using IRS Form 843. That form requires me to enter the IRS tax code under which I incurred this penalty (line 6). It's great that Turbo Tax lets me know I owe this amount, however, nowhere in the Turbo Tax application or any additional information links does it reference which IRS code the penalty is derived from. I will have to consult other sources in order to obtain it. Annoying.

Although I wish you had kept the CD upload option I am still able to obtain, load and use the software with no difficulties. Very well explained and easy to follow instructions.
