Great software package

I have used Turbo Tax for many years in doing our federal tax return. It is quick and easy to follow and very through in getting the information input from start to finish. I do think that if you are using the Deluxe Version, the online tax advice should be free!!

TurboTax Deluxe is comprehensive

TurboTax Deluxe Version is very comprehensive, but TY2024 changes to multiple 1099-R's with Required Minimum Distribution seems overly complicated, especially since the total RMD can be satisfied by one account or multiple accounts. Financial Institutions do not issue a 1099-R if no distribution is taken from one of the Retirement accounts.

Meh, if only there was competition

Software is so dated. Like 1990.. Make it resize at least. Tiny fonts.
Help is ugh, no way to find or bookmark anything.. Language is too complicated for regular person with PhD in engineering. I mean really?? U expect us to understand accounting jargon? How about I speak some material strength to you, eh?

TurboTax is efficient & fast except for issues

I love that TurboTax carries over the data from the previous years and is pretty straight forward.
Just disappointing and frustrating when you enter qualified non-taxable distributions for a Coverdell ESA using your 1099-Q form. It always assumes it's all taxable and is just doesn't have the right input questions (been a problem for the last 4 or 5 years). I know only creates a worksheet and doesn’t go to IRS anyways so you don't have to enter anything for the workaround. In addition, the taking a pic for the W-2 only 25% of the time, it picks up all the numbers and letters accurately. Lastly, when printing or saving pdf for Tax Return, key calcs it doesn't include the Tax History Report like it did in the past so now you must save that one separate and combine the two into one with adobe acrobat. For the deluxe version price you pay, this shouldn't happen.

Form import feature is very helpful. I wish amount summaries would be easier to view. I used form view which was fine.

Could be Better

As a senior citizen doing my taxes I ran into a lot of snafus, but doing my sons it was easy. I was disappointed in it this year, I used turbo tax for years, it stopped working at one point, and froze up once. Lots of troubles. Not real happy with the download version.
