Turbo tax deluxe would not allow me to file state return by mail. message stated it was e-filed and it was not e-filed

You do have to be careful and recheck everything. Sometimes I had things revert back after I corrected entries.

Many Difficulties

We imported from last year's taxes, and then TurboTax duplicated many of these files when we transferred files from our brokerage. That caused much confusion because of all the duplicates.
There were many other places where we had a hard time making TurboTax do what we needed or show us where certain automated numbers came from.
In general, TurboTax was much harder for us to use this year than in any prior year.

It's an excellent software, easy to maneuver through. I've been using Turbo Tax since the software first came out. I do my taxes using the Turbo Tax software with confidence of knowing the results will be accurate.

Good but bad underpayment penalty warnings.

Overall, the product worked well but failed in one specific area that created the need to file an amended return. Specifically, both the federal and state (IL) returns generated a tax underpayment penalty. After filing out form 2210 on my federal and state returns, the penalties went away. Turbotax should have warned me about the penalties before I filed and suggested form 2210 which would have eliminated the need for amended returns and the extra time it took.
