Good experience. The only thing was when I filed, it failed because of a software update required. Turbo tax should check for this prior to getting to that stage.

Uncaught error

I have used turbo tax for years and love it. I did have an issue this year that will make me rethink this in future. Entered my income, deductions and showed me owing over $3000 federal. Hit the final review tab and turbo tax found no errors or mistakes. Concerned this was incorrect, I reviewed manually and discovered that either I missed entering one of the income taxes withheld for one of my incomes. Added this number and am now receiving $3000 federal. Concerned program didn't catch this, which could have cost me big. Wondering if this happened in the past or will in future.

Very confusing to save. no option to save actual return, only able to save as PDF. There is no history other than PDF file. Turbo Tax not able to save actual return.

TurboTax is Adequate

This product works OK in guiding you through to complete your income taxes. As with most software, you will put up with some "up selling" of unwanted offers like audit protection, etc. I also had some circumstances using last year's product (tax year 2023) and this year's product (2024), which led to a significant over-withholding and estimated payments. So my overly-large refund this year is money I really didn't need to send in as Estimated Payments if the software had worked well. The software did not correctly compute the anticipated estimated payments on a ROTH-IRA conversion, although it did ask for the figures. I should have used a pencil for that part. This year, the software printed more Estimated Tax vouchers, although I did not need nor request for Estimated Payments. I will ignore those.

The past few years TurboTax states it will restart following completion of update(s); however, it does not restart - manual initiation of launching is required. This on Windows 11.

I have been using TurboTax for about 5 years. I've never had an issue I couldn't resolve with Turbo Taxes help. I actually enjoy doing my taxes.
