Don't pay extra to e-file your state taxes

Tax filing is great but paying for turbo is sneaky

I thought that the filling out the tax form was straight forward and pretty easy.
However charging extra for state taxes (which you have to file) is like making your product cheaper than it really is. And then trying to charge me $45 to take the $15 tax charge out of my refund was really sneaky.
Pros: My employment status changed this year

The new format this year was terrible. It took forever for it to load, over an hour, where in the past with the CD it only took minutes. Once finally loaded was easy to use.

TT can be confusing

This version of TT is confusing. The 1099-DIV import could overwrite some previous 1099-DIV form data imported previously. Some data that I entered I couldn't find them again, although I knew that TT had included them. Never had such problems with earlier TT programs. I had used TT at least since 2014.

Turbo Tax is helpful

there was a few annoying features, I don't remember all of them now, I should have made notes.
I didn't like that the error checking feature, missed the missing TIN the first time and didn't alert me until in the middle of submitting the return. Had to dig out the 1099 and the TIN was not easily found on the 1099 form, was in the detailed address not in the body of the form, so was annoying stress when I thought I was done.

disappointed. Software this year is not user friendly at all, very confusing, not sure what happened, it used to be great, not anymore. last time a try it. I try to e-file and won't allow me because it needs a software update. Try to find it and download but it will not do it. In the past you would download automatically, not anymore and complicated. WHY?

Why I love using Turbo Tax

Yes, I had Heather walk me through the entire return, both Federal and State, and she helped me figure out something that had been very confusing to me regarding my filing status, and ultimately, how that affected my state returns. I felt a lot more confident about completing the returns and filing them after working with her. Her explanations of why taxes were assessed they way that they were made total sense to me, and so even though it meant that I owed tax in one of the states, I was more confident that the calculations were correcting after she helped me. Couldn't have done it without her.
