Importing 1099s was more confusing this year than previous years.

Turbo Tax has some IRA conversion to Roth errors

My spouse converted a large portion, $51407, of IRA distribution to Roth, $49765, with the remainder $1693 to cash. Turbo Tax treated it as a ROLLOVER??? Form 8606 line 8 should show: $49765 instead of $0.00. Part II is not filled out totally blank During spouse's entire employment period, she mistakenly never filed 8606. Turbo Tax does not handle this situation in the set up. (At least this time it did create a 8606, but it has errors) It also treated her 1099-R as a CSA 1099-R that is wrong.

Turbo Tax needs improvements

Two easy improvements need to be made. 1. I live in a state that has no income tax, yet Turbo Tax shows me a cute little drawing of my state and is insistant that I complete my state income tax forms. Cut the cute crap and tell your programmers to put a "Not needed" selection in there. 2. Being retired and with limited income and expenses, I do not need to itemize my return. Again, tell your lazy programmers to get off their coffee breaks and give me an easy way to bypass itemization without leaving me with a feeling that I may have bypassed something needed!
