Did you really read this?

I have used you for years. You make changes in how you process items and do not alert us...even with a footnote. An example is in the area of IRA Distributions and how RMDs are accounted for in TT. This year, for the first time it was very important to enter ONLY the amount for an RMD for EACH 1099 that you received...not a larger number that might include accounts in another Vendor/Acct. for which you DID NOT receive a 1099. If you put in too much, then you got bounced into a 52xx form that generated additonal taxes (about $18K in my case). I had to figure it out on my own. Not good.

I had a difficult time starting this years Turbo Tax. I called your help line and a wonderful tech named Jacqueline helped to get things rolling. She had a lot of patience and explained that this year was harder because Turbo Tax tried to eliminate all the scams going on. Thank you Turbo Tax for looking out for the consumer

2023 Version Was Better Than 2024 Version

Last year's (2023) version of TurboTax Deluxe was much better. The Interview questions were more detailed. In this year's version (2024) it just asks for a lump sum of Business Income and Expenses by category, rather than the components of each Business Expense. I ended up filling in the details on the individual forms and worksheets. For example, in years past I could break out non-1099 income by source (Cash, Venmo, Zelle, ApplePay). This year's version just asks for a lump sum of non-1099 income.

The new fee to file federally is nothing but price gouging on your part. The need to create an account to file is also absurd.

Much less user friendly than in past years

Not as user friendly as in former years. If I wanted to take a look at tax forms along the way, there was no clear way to get me back to the main tax preparing pages. Also, getting the info from our financial accounts, such as Merrill Lynch seemed a lot harder than in the past 5-6 years. The wording of how to get you to log into your account was clumsy and left me wondering if our info would ever be downloaded. It seemed as if your programmers were far worse than in prior years. It was not the easy breeze that you normally make it.

I have been using TurboTax for years. I absolutely HATE what you did with the Investment Section. It was so much easier before when you could just add a new 1099-INT or 1099-DIV without going thru 3 separate screens to choose type, no I don't want to import, etc. Makes it way more difficult than it needs to be when you want to enter things yourself.
Pros: I bought or sold investments
