Great for slicing carrots!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I received this as a gift. So far I have only used the slicer, but it was so nice to be able to slice carrots without the carrot falling sideways as it does in my regular food processor. The Kitchenaid has a small chute for items such as carrots and celery which prevents the vegtable from falling. Love this! I also like the fact that I can change the thickness of the slice by sliding the tab on the side of the food processor, no need to change the blade if I think the slice is too thick or thin. Having a box to keep everything together in is also a plus. I know where all the pieces are without having to hunt for them. This does not happen with my large food processor since I am not always the person who empties the dishwasher. As much as I do love this, it is not replacing my food processor since I need to blend directly in the bowl when making pie crust.
I would recommend this to a friend!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Pros: I love using this to make hashbrowns from scratch and shredding cheese, it's also awesome for a slicing a lot of fruit or veg quickly and uniformly. This attachment sure kicked up my game in the kitchen, It sliced 2lbs of apples for my apple pie in no time flat. It's a heck of a lot quicker, safer, and easier letting the attachment do the work instead of doing it all by hand like I used to. I'm finding myself better able to cook more, more easily than I had in the past. It's like having a motorized Mandoline Slicer & shredder in one, very cool gadget.
Cons: It can't pulse/chop/mix food like a traditional food processor. And maybe this is a strange and irrational concern, but I feel weary of having such a big bulky attachment hanging off the from of my mixer when I'm using it; it attaches by a single screw being tightened and I'm afraid of it coming unsecured/detached from the mixer. I fear it will break or fall off because it is only attached in one place, is heavy, and has no support holding it up from underneath.
Overall, I would recommend it to friends who want to shred, slice, and Julian quicker & safer than doing so by hand or with a mandoline and/or manual cheese grater, but would caution that it can't pulse and mix like traditional food processors do, nor can it grind things into a fine powder. One can't make pesto, flour, or peanut butter in it, but it is fantastic for use as a motorized Mandoline Slicer & shredder that is much safer & faster than shredding/slicing/Julian veggie & fruit by hand.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] After I figured it out it was great. It just won't take large around vegetables. Things cuts lengthwise it was great. Especially for nuts, cheese, etc.

Don't Bother. Doesn't Work!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Love my Kitchenaid Mixer, but the food processor attachment is totally useless for me. I tried to make cranberry/orange relish today and it doesn't grind the berries or the orange. The chute is too small, the food "rode around" on the dicing blade, did not grind the berries at all!!
