Machines built to be passed down!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I purchased this machine to replace a 20+ year old 11 (possibly 13) cup KitchenAid Food processor. At 20+ years old, my previous KA food processor was still in excellent working order, but it's bowl had broken and was no longer replaceable. I have since mended it, and it is now being passed on to one of the (now adult) children! My mum has owned her big bowl-lift KA stand mixer for 45+ years and had been gifted, or collected on her own, many of the smaller countertop appliances. 25 years ago, while building a new home, they purchased and installed all of the major kitchen appliance with KA appliances (the dishwasher is still operational and used multiple times a day!). As a Christmas gift not long after my first child was born, my parents began gifting my sister and I with our own KA countertop appliances; starting each of us off with the tilt-head stand mixers, which, at the time, only came in white and, occasionally, black. Some years later, KA started releasing them in beautiful, brilliant colors - And I have wanted the red mixer ever since! I could not fathom replacing my well-running KAs with reds ones, though, and I have been waiting for the day my girls could start inheriting my white ones. These machines last FOREVER and are so popular that when mum's white hand mixer finally died, she couldn't get her hands on a new one in the speed she wanted. Our solution was to give her my white one - still running well after 20 years - and, FINALLY, replace it with a red one! This food processor is my second red KA to replace a white one and will shortly be followed by passing down my 23 year old standard tilt-head stand mixer with the Artisan Mini 3.5 qt stand mixer. I have been pleased to find that the new food processor is considerably lighter weight than the original, which led me to research the new Mini stand mixer, hoping for a similar situation - I have become disabled since receiving the original appliances and have had trouble lifting them in order to use them for the last few years. I am so pleased by these machines that I HIGHLY recommend them! They have, truly, become "family heirlooms" in our case!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I’ve used this little processor to make pistachio flour and tart crust so far. It’s doing everything I need it to and doing it well. Easy to clean and take everything apart. Was even able to get my husband to understand how the pieces fit together.

I purchased this processor about three months ago. Today under a medium load, smoke started spewing forth from the housing. I stopped the processor immediately, unplugged the unit, and let it cool down for thirty minutes. Now the processor does not run at all. Very disappointed in the decline of KitchenAid products.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] So happy to use a food processor that works just like it should. It doesn’t leak, easy to load with the various ports, and does exactly as I had hoped it would.
I would recommend this to a friend!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I received this 7-cup food processor free from KitchenAid in exchange for this review.
I have never used or owned a food processor before so I was at a loss for what to do with it. I put a call out to friends for suggestions and then chose some to try. I made hummus, minced peppers for hot pepper jelly and minced garlic to keep in oil in the fridge for future use. I've never made hummus, or minced bulk garlic, and traditionally, I have used a different product to mince the peppers. Using the processor made each of these tasks quick and easy. For the peppers, it's a toss up between the two products, both do the job quite well. The processor was able to do a greater volume of peppers, which is helpful.
For someone unfamiliar with this type of machine, it was very easy to put together, which is great. There's not much more frustrating than a complicated piece of equipment that takes so much brain power to put together that you give up on what it was you wanted to use it for in the first place. Everything just snapped right in place. The lid has an easy open buckle, and comes totally off so you don't have to fight with it if you're trying to add more food or scrape the sides of the bowl. It did not require any twisting or significant effort to put it together, use it, and take it apart for cleaning and storage. There aren't any weird nooks and crannies in the lid or bowl that hold on to or hide whatever it is you're creating, which I liked a lot. It cleaned up very quickly, is top shelf dishwasher safe (YAY!) and all the blades and such fit right back in the bowl for storage. There are several blade options - although all I used this time was the main multipurpose blade - which adds to the functionality of the processor.
My only complaint at this point is that the bowl doesn't have measuring lines on it. It would be very helpful to have those on the bowl so you don't have to dirty up a measuring cup if you need to measure out your ingredients.
It is unlikely that I will use this processor on a daily or even weekly basis, but come canning season, when I make jams, jellies and salsas, I have a feeling it is going to make my life significantly easier, faster and probably keep my kitchen a bit cleaner in the process! I am looking forward to putting it through its paces at that time.
