I have been disappointed every time I use it.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I was excited when this came out and was even more excited when it was on sale. Could not wait to get my new rice cooker. Unfortunately, I have been disappointed every time I use it. First time I used it, I got an "Overheated Device" error code. The rice was also undercooked. Second time, again rice was undercooked and took a really long time just to cook white rice. I reread manual and the third time I made rice, I selected the "Soft" option. After 90 minutes of cooking, the progress bar still showed another 40 minutes of cooking time but when I checked the rice, it was indeed done and soft. I use my rice cooker at least weekly, and have learned that I can not rely on the cooking time progress on the display. I ave to admit that I miss my old rice cooker that was big enough to cook several cups of rice and steam my veggies at the same time. The KitchenAid Rice cooker is too small to do both at the same time.

DO NOT BUY THIS

In theory, this should be a fantastic device. Unfortunately there is no way to manually select any of the useful cook settings. Cook times are only in 5 minute increments and cannot be adjusted. If it undercooks the rice, there are no options to extend the cook time. You cannot adjust the water dispensed or dispense more. After months of trying to get it to do even one batch of rice correctly, we have given up. I contacted support and they are not able to issue a refund or even credit or exchange so I am stuck with a product that is useless. Maybe I can donate to someone that will have better luck than us. Best to get this at a store where you can return it quickly and easily once you realize it doesn't work properly.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Perfect rice, oatmeal…whatever you throw at it. I love just pouring my ingredients in and it does the measuring and knows the perfect water ratio and cook time. This was definitely a worthwhile investment!!

A Must Have Kitchen Appliance, Love It!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I Bought This Item not long ago, This Grain and Rice Cooker is one of the many Items in our Kitchen that we use practically every day in multiple ways, No measuring needed at all, Great for cooking rolled oats and setting it the night before to be cooked and ready to eat the next morning, It is ready and saves time for having a hot breakfast before starting your day and allowing you the ability steam hard boiled eggs, we have used it to steam broccoli, beans, cooked jasmine rice in it, black beans and still using it to cook multiple items, going to steam potatoes and Brussel Sprouts and will be using it to cook by the timer feature while we focus on the entree. Now that we have purchased this KitchenAid Grain and Rice Cooker, we could never live without it.
I would recommend this to a friend!
