Big rice cooker

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Versatile cooker that can also cook beans. Very good for big meals. The capacity is 8 cups, one of the largest on the market. Because of that, it is rather bulky for smaller kitchens.

don't want to sacrifice the counter space

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I received this product free from Influenster and KitchenAid in exchange for my honest review. This rice and grain cooker was really easy to operate. The machine measures the weight of the grain as you pour it in and calculates the amount of water needed. You can also select different grains and the machine is programmed to use the right amount of water and cooking time for each one. I made jasmine rice and couscous. The rice seemed a little dry. I don't think the menu option for couscous is meant for pearl couscous because it came out chewy and undercooked. According to the manual it is possible to create custom cycles, so I will have to experiment with that. The biggest problem with this machine is that it would take up a lot of counter space and I have a small apartment. I am less likely to use it if I have to store it in the closet when I am not using it.

Innovative cooker that could use a few improvements

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Let’s start with the good! I’ve never owned a rice cooker, so please take that into consideration. I’ve owned this now for a little over a month and I’ve become accustomed to all its little quirks and features. The fact that this machine weighs out your food, distributes the amount of water you need, and even pre-cleans itself…is just SO convenient and innovative. It tells you the exact amount of time everything will take to cook. It has a steaming basket that you can cook veggies in (at the same time as your grains too). There are many, many options that cover most popular grains, beans, rice etc. You can also cook with different liquids, but I haven’t tried this yet. I use it most often to make rice, oatmeal, and quinoa. It cooked my regular rolled oats and steel cut oats almost perfectly. The rice, not quite how I’d like. So now let’s get into its quirks/downsides. It’s bulky. Like take up an entire area of your counter bulky. You can’t have under a certain amount of food in it. So if you’re trying to make single-serve portions of something, this isn’t the gadget for you. Secondly, I haven’t quite figured out how to get it to cook basmati rice without it being on the dry side. Hopefully there’s some firmware update for that. The machine also says that if you put your food in first you can level out the scale by lifting it for three seconds. This doesn’t work. It glitches out and won’t weigh your food at that point. So just wait for it to tell you when to put in the food. Lastly, there aren’t really any instructions for how to steam things. It’s kind of like a guessing game 😅 All in all, I still really like this and I envision myself using it for a while! My biggest complaint is how much counter space it takes up lol

Exceded expectations

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This appliance is pricey! However, so far I've. made brown rice, quinoa, and black beans in it and all turned out better than I expected. The beans were still slightly hard but I have to admit that I used old beans and did not soak them overnight before cooking them. I think they would have been perfect had I taken the time to pre-soak them. Fresher beans would probably help as well but I was curious to see how they'd turn out. It saves time and is pretty straight forward to use but I think the power cord needs to be longer. I'd like to keep it on my counter as it's a good looking appliance but the cord is not long enough to reach the outlet. Overall, I am terribly happy with the purchase. I waffled back and forth on giving it 4 or 5 stars and went with 5 as I don't feel it would be fair to go with 4 due to the hefty price and short power cord. 4.5 stars would be ideal!
I would recommend this to a friend!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This product is something you wouldn’t expect to make a big difference in your food preparation process, but it does! I love how easy it is to set up; that all components are dish washer safe. Very cool technology in this machine- I especially love the “keep warm” feature. Additionally, the capacity of it is great, holds probably 10-12 total servings. This would’ve gotten 5 stars except that I found figuring out how to multitask in this cooker (cooking rice and steaming veggies or seafood) difficult to understand. Will take some trial and error, but it’s well worth it!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] The KitchenAid Grain and Rice Cooker offers innovative features that simplify the cooking process for a variety of grains and beans. However, potential buyers should weigh its higher price point and consider whether its features align with their cooking preferences and kitchen space.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I’ve been wanting a rice cooker for a very long time, so I was really excited to receive this. I’m not going to lie. I did have to read the instructions very thoroughly to make sure I was using this correctly, but there was an ease to it after you review the instructions. I think this machine is so versatile, and I’m really excited to have it in my kitchen, and to use it for rice and grains.

Nifty appliance

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I cooked cilantro lime rice as well as oatmeal following the recipe from the included booklet. Following the recipe the measurements were off compared to what the cooker recommended which I thought was odd. I added the amount of oats in the recipe but the amount of milk needed was much lower (less than half the amount). It came out nice and soft not mushy. It looks dry in the picture because I didn’t add much milk after the cook time. The rice came out perfectly every time. I like that the guesswork is taken out. You just have to decide how much grain you want to eat and make sure the water tank is filled up and it takes it from there. I wish the timer counted down instead of showing the overall recipe time. It only starts counting down once 10 minutes are left. The chime is a nice tune and not too loud or annoying. There is a minimum amount of weight you have to add to the pot however. I wanted to make only half a cup and it said I needed to add about 25 more grams. So not great for small or one person portions. It wouldn’t let me proceed until I added more rice. I like the cleaning function. Very useful for easily cleaning the pot so you don’t have to scrub it or leave it to soak in the sink. Overall, I enjoyed using it and am definitely adding it to the mix of appliances I regularly use.
