Heavy, durable, smooth, expensive

Travel through Taipei and Taitung (east coast of Taiwan) via Plane, Trains, Automobile for 3 weeks.
1. Going through the airports was easy, wheels are smooth, and EVA Air had no issue with the size. 2. Suggestion: get a vacuum pack that compresses your clothes. To comply with carry-on size limitations, there's not a lot of room within its relatively rigid frame. However, the compressed luggage is more dense, so when added to the heaviness of this unit, lifting a fully packed one up onto the overhead bin can be a challenge. 3. The wheels survived all kinds of terrains, from smooth pavements to rough and barely paved cobbled stones, some dirt paths. The water proofing is superb as it rained heavily 2 weeks out of 3 when we were there. 4. Negative: The smaller PD camera cubes cannot clip on the inside. The loops inside the Carry-On is too low and are meant only for the XL camera cube.

Game changing roller

The Roller Pro serves triple duty for me as a camera case, suitcase and a hybrid of both. The case rolls with ease and wheels are positioned such that the bag is not on the verge of tipping over as other cases I’ve owned. The extending handle, interior tie downs and hidden apple airtag compartment some of my favorite features.

Best Roller Ever

I bought this as part of the Kickstarter campaign and took it on a month long trip to Central Asia. The bag holds a lot and easy to use with great features. It rolled effortlessly on all terrain.
The outside zipper is fantastic for storing your laptop and other accessories that you need in flight.

Rolls Well but Quality Issues
on November 19, 2025

Huge fan of Peak Design products, but this is not the bag you’re searching for.
Quality issues lead to very loud unfixable hinge noise and a handle that wiggles. The design does not save enough space as a benefit to offset these issues for a premium priced bag. You also lose packing space due to all the extra layers of material on both sides of the top lid.
I will say it rolls really easily and the stiff one piece handle is nice except for the wiggle.

First Impressions

1st trip impressions:
Be careful if you check the bag in its expanded form - I carry on when going, but often check a bag when coming home if it's full and heavy with new acquisitions. The danger is that the zipper is exposed when expanded, and on its maiden voyage the teeth of the zipper were damaged. I can still kind of close it but I foresee problems ahead. The lesson I learned is to pack the bag in it's expanded form and then squish it down to compress it and zip up the expandable section. This worked really well even when the bag was really packed out. I never needed the elastic cords to hold the contents because of this, but if you needed to open the bag while vertical I can see where the cords would be useful.
Since I always fly with a personal item, I use the exterior top pocket to hold my liquid toiletries bag where if I need to I can retrieve it, plus things like gloves and a hat which I might need to quickly grab.
I don't travel with a laptop, only a tablet, so I may cut out the security flap features of the front pocket like another reviewer did. I did use the laptop compartment to stow papers and flat items that I didn't need access to.
I didn't think I would but ended up enjoying the see-through small pockets to keep bits and bobs like locks, s-hooks, laundry supplies, packable tote bags, shoe covers - things I don't need in my personal item but are nice to have separate storage for.
(FYI the personal item I use right now is the Patagonia Micro MLC, and the luggage pass-thru fits over the PD Roller handle pretty easily with a bit of jiggling.)
The bag is heavier than my hardsided carry-on, but I have grown to hate the room those bags need to open clam-shell style and the restricted packing space, so the drawbridge opening is a game changer for me. Even fully loaded, I didn't have any problem carrying it for short distances by hand or putting in in an overhead compartment. The four handles really help maneuverability.
Minor niggles: I wish they'd used zippers that have a hole for a cable lock. Also, the Hinge Creak is real and I wish they put the fix on the product page - I'm having trouble finding it.

Be very careful when buying the eclipse bag. In many of the photo's it appear brown but be warned that it is extremely plum purple. Otherwise nice bag but surprisingly heavy.

And Roll It Does

An excellent bag that really only might be said to have one flaw: that the rolling part of the Roller Pro might be too good. If you happen to be on an uneven surface at the airport make sure to keep an eye on your bag!

Solid bag

Very happy with the design features and build quality.
One suggestion: add attachment points for the lid such that you can open the lid while the unit is upright. The strings would catch the bag with an adjustable opening (about 15cm). This would allow you to slightly open the bag at the airport to access the pockets built into the lid.
