Roller Pro for business travel
on July 16, 2025

I am a big fan of Peak Design products and always pack my carry-on bag with their Packing Cubes and Tech Pouch. The only issue I faced was finding a suitable carry-on for transporting my business suit, a couple of dress shirts, and one or two ties. I often had to switch to a larger suitcase to pack them neatly.
Then, I discovered Peak Design's Roller Pro. This suitcase features multiple cords and loops, making it incredibly versatile. By attaching a small loop of string to the center loop inside the case, I can neatly tuck a thin garment bag inside. I use the travel hanger connected to this loop to ensure the garment bag doesn’t shift while in motion.
Now, it makes for a perfect carry-on for my 2- to 3-night business trips, allowing me to avoid the hassle at the check-in counter and baggage claim.

Amazing Carry On

I had my doubts when I saw it. I am happy to say I was pleasantly surprised. Every single aspect of the carry on fulfilled kickstarter expectations. Every nook and cranny has a purpose and I love the way its designed. There is nothing I would change, and I love how convenient every pocket, hook, and opening is for everything I consider taking with me on trips. Every aspect of the carry on feels well made and sturdy.

Worked well the first couple of trips

One trip was a quick three day jaunt in which I also packed my camera cube and DSLR. The second trip was eight days from West to East and the roller pro did really well with its travel backpack companion. I was able to pack all the clothes and two pairs of shoes — in both bags. One of my shirt packing cubes was in the backpack. I kept my toiletries in the admin panel, which my wife was quick to point out is “easy for boys.” Note that the bag required expansion but that’s fine for domestic. It is a solid piece of construction and it really does race through airports. Also kept my MacBook Air in the RP which was a nice relief. They pair up exquisitely, especially in the same color.

The best carry-on roller I've ever used.

Got mine through an early Kickstarter pledge. It rolls great - silent on tiles and smooth on concrete and asphalt. Haven't tried it on gravel. It's weatherproof and sturdy, even when expanded. The grips on both sides and the top are handy for carrying the roller up the stairs or swinging it around to ward off assailants and wild animals. The front full-open style access allows for easy packing. The laptop sleeve and EDC pockets are very convenient when you are working on the go.
There's one thing I want Peak Design to do for me. Design a strap that I can attach to this roller, allowing me the option to use it as a backpack.
And to all those still unable to decide which roller to buy... a whisper of advice:

5 stars AFTER I did a bunch of cutting & removin'

I bought this on kickstarter, at first I did not like it and thought it was too heavy and over engineered. I then cut out the floppy mag cover, + cut out the opposite mag fabric on the front panel. (Also who keeps a laptop in a roller bag and not a personal item/backpack?) -> So I cut out 1 side + excess foam for the front laptop pocket and now made it a lighter single panel pocket with more room. I then removed the heavy pointless hinges. also the clip for the roll down pocket kept coming undone and doesn't allow for a tight roll. so I removed that and just used an old velcro cable tie - works perfect. All in all I removed more than 0.5lb of useless stuff, and now the bag is WAY more functional and holds even more, and weighs even less. I love it 10/10 would recommend

Thoughtful Design

I just took a weekend trip with my new roller pro and I couldn’t be happier. When I was packing to leave the interior pockets were easily accessible with the lid in the upright position. I use packing cubes and the bungee system held everything in place perfectly. For this trip I didn’t take my MacBook Pro but I did bring along my iPad in its place. As advertised the magnetic closure held tight but was easy to open when I wanted to grab it. Can’t wait to use this on longer trips and with all my full sized camera gear.

Perfect travel bag
on July 14, 2025

Over the years I've tried a lot of bags and combination of bags, the roller pro enables what I would consider the most perfect way to travel. Feature wise the biggest is the single compartment and the laptop compartment.
First the laptop compartment, sometimes I travel for work and you know what that means right? 2 laptops, so this bag comes in clutch by letting me carry my personal in my backpack and work in the bag for carry on. When not for work I can lighten the load for my back by storing it in the roller.
Second is the single compartment design, I've always hated the dual side one because the way I pack and what I pack just never made sense for the normal dual compartment design. One thing I never really considered too but made a huge difference was when at a hotel it just takes up significantly less space which is great.
Build quality is standard peak design which to say is great. I absolutely love this bag and it's a core part of my travel kit.

This thing is a joy to use, is incredibly spatially efficient and rolls like no other suitcase I’ve ever seen. Also if it ever breaks the warranty is amazing which gives you incredible peace of mind!
