I was apprehensive to pay so much for a carry on bag, but here are some pros and cons, after testing the bag for a few months.
Pros - i cannot stress enough how smooth and easy it is to roll. I’ve owned a lot of bags and this one is on a different level. - the fabric exterior is scratch resistant. It seems to be made of similar material the other bags and pouches like their tech bag. - so so many compartments. The best one is definitely the laptop slot. Super accessible. Very convenient.
Cons - no built in lock. And the loops that are there for an external lock are made of fabric. This means it’s pointless to lock it because anyone can cut through the fabric very easily. This is what lost the review 1 star. - extremely pricy. Even with the early bird discount. The only thing that finally made me decide to buy was their lifetime warranty. If this bag can last me 1-2 decades I’d say it’s money well spent.
It operates very smoothly even on carpeted surfaces. It was so smooth that I thought it needed a braking mechanism to prevent the roller from rolling away when idle.
Delivers on its promises. Never thought I'd care about how smooth a bag rolled or how stiff the handle was, but it did improve my travel experience. Drawbridge opening was GREAT for small spaces in Europe, and the quality of the bag held up for miles of rolling over cobble. I think I'd recommend perhaps making things a little "less" inside... there are lots of doodads and cords and things that give a feeling of clutter and complexity sometimes.
Everything is almost perfect… it handles fast, but the zippers on the main pocket have already given out on me once from minor compression. They went back to normal but not giving confidence in their ability to hold up forever. Wish they would have put more money in the main zipper of the bag..
I’ve been using this carry-on for a while now, and I’m genuinely impressed. Even when it’s loaded with heavy photography gear, it glides effortlessly — the wheels are incredibly smooth, which makes a huge difference when moving around airports or city streets.
The build quality feels solid and secure. I currently have the XL cube, but I’m considering switching to the M for more flexibility. Aesthetically, the suitcase looks great and feels premium to the touch. One of my favorite features is the opening system — it’s intuitive and very satisfying to use.
I’ve been thinking about how it could be improved without compromising its strengths, but honestly, nothing concrete has come to mind yet. It’s already doing a great job.
This Roller has been on long and short trips since I got it. And it delivers. All the promises that were made in the Kickstarter campaign are true. It packs more (looks decisively small), the wheels are amazing and the handle allow a manoeuvring that is unreal.
Absolutely thrilled with this roller carry-on luggage from Peak Design — it’s hands down the best piece of luggage I’ve ever owned. As someone who travels frequently and values quality gear, this bag exceeded all expectations. First off, the wheels are buttery smooth — seriously, it glides effortlessly over carpet, tile, and even bumpy sidewalks. I barely have to apply pressure when rolling it alongside me.
The build quality is rock-solid. The exterior is rigid and durable, easily holding up against the usual airport abuse. I recently got caught in a complete downpour in Seattle, and everything inside stayed perfectly dry — the waterproofing is no joke. It's reassuring to know I can trust this bag in any condition.
Inside, the organization is exceptional. Multiple interior pockets, smart storage options, and thoughtful design make packing and accessing my items incredibly easy and efficient. I especially appreciate how every compartment has a purpose — no wasted space, and everything has its place.
This is actually my tenth Peak Design purchase, and they continue to impress me with their consistency, attention to detail, and commitment to high performance. They’ve really nailed the balance between form and function with this one. Stylish, rugged, and ridiculously practical.
If you’re looking for a roller carry-on that can truly keep up with you — whether you’re hopping continents or commuting for business — this is the one. Worth every penny, and then some. I couldn't recommend it more highly.
I bought this on kickstarter, at first I did not like it and thought it was too heavy and over engineered. I then cut out the floppy mag cover, + cut out the opposite mag fabric on the front panel. (Also who keeps a laptop in a roller bag and not a personal item/backpack?) -> So I cut out 1 side + excess foam for the front laptop pocket and now made it a lighter single panel pocket with more room. I then removed the heavy pointless hinges. also the clip for the roll down pocket kept coming undone and doesn't allow for a tight roll. so I removed that and just used an old velcro cable tie - works perfect. All in all I removed more than 0.5lb of useless stuff, and now the bag is WAY more functional and holds even more, and weighs even less. I love it 10/10 would recommend
