This purchase was made to replace the same product that I bought 2 years ago. The old pot kept disconnecting and switching itself off before the water had boiled. Trying again since I really like the product, but if I have the same issue, I may need to kind another brand, since I would expect a kettle to last longer than 2 years...

My 3rd Breville electric kettle. and because I had been so happy with the previous ones, did not bother to read any reviews. Would agree, it is really annoying not being able to see the water level (i.e. no light) on this model.
It works well, I did give it inly a 3 star rating. Since I sent a kettle in for repair, paid repair fee, got a new kettle back in exchange. Unfortunately it was not a temperature controlled like my old one.
I would recommend this to a friend!

I had the original that lasted 12 years and it was substantially better built compared to this new one. Stainless steel is thinner therefore, makes loud cracking sound, cup measure indicator is no longer illuminated in this model and doneness indicator bell is barely loud enough to alert.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Stopped working short of 2 years

I expected more from Breville when I bought this kettle. A month short of 2 years from purchase it just stopped working mid boil. I used it ~4 times a week. Seems too expensive to get less than 2 years of use. Maybe my expectations were too high but I'd expect longer wear from a Breville product.
