This is a great microwave! The more powerful fan is obvious without pulling out the hood. Once you do, it's even better. The only reason I gave it for is that I find the controls less intuitive than I would want. That, however, is more subjective, my learning speed and preference.
I would recommend this to a friend!

Great Microwave

Our GE Profile microwave was installed three weeks ago. We are very pleased with the microwave’s performance, appearance and the various features. We are especially pleased with the Slide-Out Hood, Control Panel and Selector Dial.

Over the counter microwave GE Profile

It is a good-looking product, but more cumbersome to operate than an LG microwave we had before. The touch buttons have to be pressed hard to work. Also, for cook times, you cannot time it for 12 or 13 seconds, you can go up or down only in 15-second steps.

Mediocre dials, good fan

It works fine but is really a pain to have to dial in the time (and only in 15 second increments), then figure out how to dial in lower power. My husband loved the ability to pull out the fan though - that offsets the mediocre dials.

This microwave has the extended vent that works perfectly.Style and design are awesome.The only thing is have no numbers on pad for time,but not a deal breaker.Once learn the cooking type and options,won’t go back to standard microwave ever again.

Slide out fans - great on paper less so in reality

It works as expected…mostly… except that I would have expected more draw from the fan in the slide out hood (that’s why we bought this model) - it’s almost imperceptible. There are lots of ancillary gaps around the slide out part so I assume fumes are getting sucked from all the intended and unintended openings…..but ….. The rear fan openings are exhausting well - paper held up to them holds fast….BUT … when I do the same to the front ones…. the paper falls right off.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Warning: Halogen light is hazardous

I bought this to replace an over-the-range microwave that died and it fills the space perfectly and looks good. However, the “surface light” which shines over the stove is so ugly. It’s off- center and the halogen bulb glares through the glass, plus it’s *dangerously* hot! If you use that lamp it also makes the inside of the microwave oven super hot — I put a little room thermometer inside and it’s reading 100+degrees F, and mind you, this is without having used the microwave for cooking, just from having the light on. It’s really poor product design — I can’t understand why anyone is using halogen bulbs like this anymore.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Broken slider vent of GE profile OTR microwave

The slide in/out is not working properly. It won't shut close and and won't open. You need to lightly force it to open and closed. It was installed only last Dec 18,2024.
I need to contact GE and hopefully they will fix it. I bought this microwave because of this extendable vent
